I am generally pretty flexible with the things I like. Character-driven stories are awesome, plot-driven stories are awesome, explicit porn is awesome, angst and bleakness are awesome, happy endings are awesome, humour is awesome! Etc.
A few of my favourite things include:
-Canon divergence AUs!
-Time travel shenanigans, particularly characters going back in time to change their own past (I always love a good Peggy Sue)
-Politics, history and worldbuilding in general
-Road trips (or spaceship trips, actual ship trips, etc)
-Enemies forced to work together by circumstance
-Unexpected and unconventional happy endings
-Bittersweet endings
-Tragedies that are more-or-less inevitable given the nature of the individuals involved
-People living in less-than-ideal or even actively hostile situations who manage to carve out some kind of happiness despite that.
Porn likes include rough/frantic sex, emphasising nonhuman strengths/capabilities/anatomy for nonhuman or superpowered characters, dirty talk, mild D/s, and bondage/restraints.
I am generally okay with violence, noncon, character death, etc - provided that it is warned for up front - though I would prefer that stories do not focus solely on trauma/horror/violence, and if these do come up as part of the story, I am more interested in the lead up and the aftermath than in dragging out the details of the act itself.
If you need to work your way around a canon relationship of any configuration to write a pairing I've requested (or just like writing it), I do generally enjoy poly and open relationships! "They were together and then they broke up" and "don't even mention it" are also fine. Infidelity is also fine in most circumstances, I'm cool with reading about requested characters doing morally dubious things - as long as the cheated-on party doesn't get written wildly out of character to "justify" it. This is particularly the case in ASOIAF, where almost all the marriages we see involve at least some level of power imbalance and/or coercion - I'm really happy for the primary romantic pairing(s) of a fic to occur on the side of a formal marriage, with the consent of the other spouse or not.
General DNWs:
-Modern/mundane and genre-shift AUs - basically anything that takes the requested characters/pairings out of their canon setting. Fusions (eg a daemon AU or Fallen London AU) that keep the canon setting more-or-less the same are fine though.
-Soulmates, soulmarks, hanahaki disease, etc
-Lengthy descriptions of violence/horror/noncon/major character death
-Non-canon character death of requested characters (and if a requested character's canon character death is averted, please don't then kill them off in a different way!)
-M/f D/s (femdom is great, I’m just not into femsub)
-Unrequested kinks
-Explicit underage (I'm fine with older teenagers (15+) having sex with adults or each other, or with mentions of underage, I just don't want explicit adult/child sex).
Fandom-specific DNWs:
-Tyrion Lannister - I'm okay with brief mentions, or him showing up as a kid or in an AU version of himself, but not canon, ADWD-era Tyrion as a central character.
-Ned/Ashara (I like both of them individually or as friends, just not as a romance)
-Romantic Rhaegar/Lyanna (mentioning it happened is fine, keeping them as married for plot reasons is fine, a complicated/messed up ongoing relationship is fine, I'm just not interested in the shippy romantic version of this pairing.)
-Aang/Katara – mentions are fine, or a past relationship where they break up before/at the start of the story. I love both of them a lot, though, so if you do write something post-breakup please don’t bash either of them!
Just as a side note, I've received wonderful fic for some of these characters/pairings before, but I am a greedy person who always wants more haha. Please don't take these requests as any kind of comment on fic I've received in the past!

I love her passion and determination so much, I love how much she’s been able to use her role as Queen to change her adopted country for the better – my only issue in the books is that I’ve always wanted more of her story! I’d love to see more of her perspective on Alanna or Daine or Kel, for example, or what she was up to during the Immortals or Scanran Wars, or how she founded the Riders, or just moments of Thayet being political and savvy to change Tortall – or physically fighting to change Tortall, lol.
I’d also really love to know more about her childhood and teenage years in Sarain, and particularly her relationship with her parents (and Buri!) and the two cultures she’s part of. I can understand why she chose to stay in Tortall permanently in Lioness Rampant, immediately after her mother’s suicide and the civil war, but I would also like to see how she connects (or not) with her culture later in life - does she ever come to regret that decision? How is the civil war resolved (if it ever is) and how does Thayet feel about that? I’d also be really interested in a story where she returns to Sarain postcanon (maybe after Jonathan’s death? Would she bring the Dominion Jewel with her?) Or maybe one of her younger children decides to go to Sarain – how would she feel about that?
I also think there could be some fascinating canon divergence AUs for Thayet! I am 100% here for Genghis Thayet AUs, where she takes the Dominion Jewel to unite Sarain – or maybe just to lead the K’mir to independence – and fuck what the Sarainese patriarchy says about women ruling. I know Tamora Pierce had to let Alanna bring Thayet and the jewel to Tortall for plot reasons, but in terms of Thayet’s own story it never seemed to ring quite true that she’d leave the K’mir behind so easily, so I’d really appreciate a story where she… didn’t.
Also, if you wanted to go full role reversal - Thayet the young ruler attempting to unite her troubled country with the Dominion Jewel, Buri her champion who brought her the jewel from Chitral, and Jon the beautiful prince fleeing political turmoil in his own country (accompanied by his faithful sidekick Alanna of course) who ends up marrying Thayet – I would be extremely into that.
Pairing-wise, I quite like Thayet/Jonathan – obviously their marriage has its ups and downs in canon, but overall they work well together, and I would definitely enjoy a story looking at their relationship (the canon version or otherwise) in more depth. I also really love femslash pairings for Thayet; Thayet/Buri or Thayet/Alanna would make me very, very happy. (Buri/Alanna or Delia/Alanna in the background of a Thayet/Jonathon story would also make me happy!) I love canon divergence AUs where Thayet didn’t want to be Tortall’s queen and had a life of adventure with Buri or Alanna instead; I’m also always interested in complicated poly arrangements, where perhaps Thayet/Jonathan and Alanna/George are the public marriages (marriages of convenience or genuine relationships), and Thayet/Alanna and Jonathan/George are happening in secret. Or ditto, but with Buri/Raoul as the other public marriage instead of Alanna/George. A sedoretu AU involving any set of characters could be fun too!
Arram Draper/Ozorne Tasikhe/Varice Kingsford
I enjoyed Tempests and Slaughter much more than I was expecting to – baby Arram is just so cute, and I actually liked the slice-of-life magical university studies; it’s a similar vibe to some of my favourite parts of the Protector of the Small, and I don’t care that there’s minimal actual plot. The only thing I really want more of is Arram’s friendship with Ozorne and Varice! I liked what we got, but honestly I wanted it even more codependent and claustrophobic, lol. Maybe that comes later? (Along with Arram’s powers growing to the extent that he no longer has the fine control necessary to heal – the only way I can see out of the current inconsistency with the earlier books.)
Given how their relationship ended up, I really can’t see Arram and Ozorne not having had some kind of sexual-romantic relationship in their teens. I liked that Varice was the pursuer in her relationship with Arram, but it will leave Ozorne out as the third wheel, and I can’t see him enjoying that. Did he know what Varice was planning before she did it? Did Varice seek his blessing first? Is he also going to start pursuing Arram? Or is he just going to sulk and/or pine until Arram and/or Varice figure it out and get him involved too?
Basically I am looking for anything set during or after Tempests and Slaughter that makes their friendship more sexual-romantic-generally codependent, lol. Either a poly-v with Arram dating both Varice and Ozorne (with Varice and Ozorne having an extremely intimate but non-sexual friendship) or a straight-up threesome would make me very happy. And I am happy with any level of ominous foreboding, and if you want to work in scenes from the Immortals War era too, that’s also excellent! Given how their relationship ends, I’m completely fine with a fucked-up, angsty story – though something sweet and light as per the Tempests and Slaughter era would be nice too.
I’m also always up for a canon divergence AU – making it better or making it worse – but in particular, I would be absolutely fascinated by a universe where Ozorne didn’t end up completely evil. Maybe if the emperor figured out the plot to kill his heirs (which presumably Ozorne’s mother and Master Chioke, at least, are involved in) and Ozorne ended up on the run with Arram and Varice, he might have a chance to learn to be a better person as he grows older, instead of a worse one? (I can only imagine the chaos if they ended up in Tortall – as Arram does in canon – particularly if they were still in their mid-to-late teens and Roger would potentially be around!)

Rhaenys Targaryen
Even though Rhaenys died as a toddler, I’m kind of obsessed by her, and by imagining what she might have been like if she’d lived. Any fic where she’s alive in the present day of the books is immediately fascinating to me – it probably means an AU, but not necessarily! I’d be interested in any story like this; less so a story solely featuring toddler Rhaenys. But it doesn’t have to be a canon-divergence AU if you don’t want to write that; “surprise, Rhaenys was alive all along!” is fine too. And I don’t mind if you keep Elia and Aegon alive too, or keep Rhaenys as the sole survivor.
If the whole world knew she was alive, it means a massive canon divergence with huge implications for Robert’s rule – is he even on the throne at all? If he is, has she been betrothed to Joffrey since he was born for the sake of long-term stability (as per Henry VII’s marriage to Elizabeth of York, perhaps) or has she been declared a bastard? Betrothed to Robb?* Maybe Rhaegar and Robert both died, and she or Aegon have been rulers since infancy under a regency? Or is she in hiding in Essos with Dany and Viserys?
*I like this plot device, and I like Rhaenys/Robb, but it doesn’t really make a lot of political sense lol. But I could still be convinced!
I would also be fascinated by a fic where all seemed the same as canon, but someone had secretly saved Rhaenys as a baby – Jaime or Ned are both possibilities, but not the only ones! Maybe Amory Lorch grabbed the wrong kid – a wetnurse’s child, maybe – and someone else realised and saved the real Rhaenys later, and she’s been living in hiding (in Dorne, in Essos, or somewhere completely unexpected) ever since? What would it mean for everyone if her secret got out?
Pairing-wise, I’m pretty agnostic, though I have a soft spot for the idea of Rhaenys/Sansa – Sansa loves romance and royalty, after all! And maybe the two of them would meet in an AU where Rhaenys is (or was?) betrothed to Joffrey. I also really like Rhaenys/Robb, particularly if it means Robb gets to survive the Red Wedding. I’m less into Targaryen incest, though I like the idea of Rhaenys getting to meet her surviving relatives, too. But I’m willing to go with any Rhaenys pairing, really, to suit the needs of the story – and gen is great too! Basically any Rhaenys story would make me very happy.
Elia Martell/Cersei Lannister
I feel like all of my ASOIAF pairing requests are just throwing characters together in increasingly cracky combinations… but bear with me here! Individually, Cersei and Elia are two of my favourites; yes Cersei is a fuckup but I find her fury, ambition and gender issues endlessly fascinating, and I love stories that dig into her complexity and give her a chance to be happy(ier) than she will be in canon. Meanwhile Elia is generally just reduced to being kind and frail and tragic, except in Oberyn's memories, and I am always looking for stories that flesh out her character and give her a chance to be more complex and active in her own life.
And I feel like putting Elia and Cersei together would be a great way to achieve this for both of them! In canon they’re linked in a lot of ways – the friendship between their mothers, the rivalry for Rhaegar’s hand and the eventual Martell-Lannister feud, not to mention their respective bad* marriages – but they never really get to interact as adults together on their own merits. I’d love to see some missing scenes between them in canon – maybe unexpected connections at Harrenhal – or a canon divergence AU where Elia lived, or even a no-rebellion AU where Elia was Rhaegar’s Queen and Cersei was her handmaiden - maybe waiting for Viserys to grow up so she could marry him?
*Yes, we don’t actually know much about Elia and Rhaegar’s relationship, but the one part of Elia and Rhaegar’s relationship we see is him publicly humiliating her at Harrenhal, so I think it’s safe to say that they had rocky patches at the very least.
In a lot of scenarios I can see Cersei seeing Elia as her rival and hating her – and Elia pitying Cersei for her own self-destructiveness – and I am always here for hatesex, lol. But I can also see them ending up as unexpected allies!
Cersei Lannister/Ned Stark/Jaime Lannister
Another slightly cracky ship I have grown to adore! I just love the combination of Ned’s stubborn, somewhat naïve sense of honour and the Lannister twins’ self-indulgent nihilism. I also love Ned and Jaime’s extremely bisexual moments of lustfully/wistfully remembering Attractive Men They Have Known, and Jaime’s grumpy horniness whenever he thinks Ned is judging him, but also Ned and Cersei’s general vibe, where he tries to be kind and empathetic and she has absolutely no kindness left. And I love fic that brings the three of them closer together – whether that’s Ned forced by circumstances to get his hands a little dirty or Jaime and Cersei doing something for the common good despite their better instincts, “enemies forced to work together” and “reluctantly finding common ground with the people you hate” are two of my all-time favourite tropes.
I feel like it would be tricky, but not impossible, to work this ship into canon somewhere – I’m extremely fine with something dubconny here, because I guess Ned doesn’t have much time for a complete change of heart before his death, lol. Or maybe magical shenanigans resurrect him somehow and he ends up reluctantly fighting against the dead with Cersei and Jaime?
Alternatively, as already mentioned many times, I LOVE canon divergence AUs and I feel like ASOIAF has endless opportunities for great ones! "What if Ned married Cersei instead of Catelyn" would be fascinating, whether as part of a King Ned AU where Robert died at the Trident and Ned took the throne to stop Tywin from taking it, or as a riff off canon where the Rebellion era marriages happened differently – maybe Brandon lived in this AU? Or Ned married Cersei prior to the Rebellion breaking out (which would mean the Rebellion might have gone very differently if Ned was able to pull Tywin in from the start)? Regardless of how it happened, I can’t see any universe in which Cersei was married to Ned (or anyone) but didn’t get Jaime involved somehow too.
Or what about a canon-era divergence where Ned kept his head? Maybe Cersei kept him as a prisoner/trophy and he ended up her (and Jaime’s) increasingly exasperated advisor? Maybe they all ended up at the Wall somehow? Really, go wild!
Ned Stark/Oberyn Martell
So initially I started requesting this pairing because I wanted poor probably-bisexual Ned to have a chance to fuck a dude, and Oberyn is – well – an easy choice. But actually it makes more sense than it seems! Despite appearances they have a lot that could potentially bring them together – they’re both haunted by the tragedies of the Rebellion and particularly by the loss of a beloved sister, they’re both driven by a need for justice/desire to avoid repeating the tragedies of the past, and they’re linked by blood through Rhaegar’s children. Also, yes, opposites attract – Ned is upright and stoic, Oberyn is flirtatious and hotheaded; it’s a classic combo for a reason.
It would be a bit hard to make this pairing work in canon, but not impossible! Maybe Ned’s tragic Harrenhal romance was with a Dornishman, not Ashara? Maybe Oberyn visited the Vale at one point while travelling?
There are also some great canon divergence AUs that could bring them together. Maybe Oberyn went to King’s Landing earlier than in canon, before Ned went there as Hand – he would be an absolute agent of chaos and Ned’s plotline might go very differently! Or maybe Oberyn figured out about Jon from rumours he heard at Starfall, and came to Winterfell precanon to investigate?
If you wanted to go Rebellion-era, if Ned saved Elia (and her children?), I can see Oberyn wanting to repay him in some dramatic, over-the-top way - maybe he'd follow Ned around until he had the chance to repay his debt by saving Ned's life, or something similar - regardless of whether Ned actually wanted the company of a flamboyant, dramatic Dornishman! Oberyn following Ned back to Winterfell looking for a chance to be useful would be pretty fun, actually - particularly if Ned was gritting his teeth trying to ignore his attraction, and they eventually fell in bed together. Alternatively, if Lyanna had lived, I can see Ned throwing everything away to protect her – so what about Ned, Lyanna, Elia, Oberyn, and the three Targ kids running away to Essos together on the world's wackiest roadtrip? Uncles all round!

This is one of my all-time favourite ATLA pairings. I love the epic contrasts between them - fire versus ice, manipulation and control versus hope and passion, healer versus killer - but I also love how they sometimes parallel - very powerful and dedicated in their bending, almost prodigies, both of them the little sisters in their families coming to terms with patriarchy and gender roles (albeit in different ways).
For this pairing I'd be particularly interested in something set mainly postcanon, or in a canon divergence AU. I do find it very disappointing that we never saw Azula get a chance for a redemption/healing arc - despite everything she did, she was only a child, and the final season did show how Ozai's abuse affected her as well as Zuko. Anything centred around this would be delightful! I love that Katara is a powerful bender who managed to defeat Azula in battle, but she’s a healer too – I really love the idea of her, postcanon, helping Azula to heal and grow.
But I'd also like straight-up hatesex, or enemies forced to work together (and finding common ground). That would also make for a great postcanon story – maybe for whatever reason Azula and Katara have to work together to defeat a threat to the whole Fire Nation, and end up growing closer and respecting each other?
Or if you wanted to go full AU, there's so many interesting possibilities - what if Azula was the one to be scarred and banished, and end up on a voyage of self-discovery, instead of Zuko? Or what if Katara was kidnapped by the Fire Nation as a child and ended up working for Azula as one of her dangerous ladies? Or arranged marriage AU - Azula in the Southern Icefield would be just as interesting as Katara in the Fire Nation! I’ve also seen several stories where Zuko ends up accidentally adopted by the Southern Water Tribe; I would adore a story where the same thing happened to Azula.
Katara/Mai
I love Katara and Mai, and I really wish they'd had the chance to interact more in canon - I think they have more in common than it seems, and I could see them becoming friends given half a chance. On the surface level, they both have limited patience with unpleasant (stupid, mean) people and share a common interest in looking nice and staying clean; they are extremely skilled and willing to use violence, but only when necessary. Katara is an eternal optimist and Mai is the show's biggest cynic, but oddly I think they both come from a similar idealistic place; Katara's life has taught her that you can fix things if you try hard enough, whereas Mai has been stuck in an amoral society with no real escape, and has chosen to reject everything rather than go along with an ideology she doesn't really believe in (even helping Azula is something she does to reduce her own boredom, I think, I never get the sense that she really believes in Fire Nation propaganda). I think they could balance each other out very well, and it would be a lot of fun to see.
I'd love to see a reluctant allies story where they have to work together for some plot reason, or a gradually developing friendship/romance as they discover common ground – maybe some new enemy arises postcanon and the two of them end up working together to solve a mystery or defeat it?
I would also really love to see a canon divergence AU where the two of them got a chance to spend more time together! Maybe Mai joined the Gaang earlier, alongside or instead of Zuko? Or maybe Katara was stuck in a post-Agni Kai Fire Nation for longer than canon, and ended up working with Mai to help Zuko secure his position on the throne? Or as above, maybe Katara was kidnapped by the Fire Nation as a child and ended up as one of Azula’s dangerous ladies – I would be fascinated by how a fourth girl would change the dynamics of their friendship, and their relationships with Zuko!
Note: I also ship Katara/Zuko and Mai/Zuko, and would be very interested in any kind of poly relationship between the three of them – so long as Katara/Mai remains a focus - but just Katara/Mai on its own would be delightful too.
Aang/Toph
I’ve usually only seen this pairing on the sidelines of Katara/Zuko but I find it really charming in its own right, and I’d love a story focused on the two of them together! Aang and Toph have a nice opposites-attract energy – the stubborn, grounded Earthbender and the flighty, detached Airbender – but they also have a lot in common! They’re both playful and really good at finding the joy in life; they have a strong sense of humour and don’t tend to care about conforming to the status quo. They’re a good team, too, and I think they often bring out the best in each other.
I’d really love to see something set postcanon for these two – particularly as I’m requesting shippy fic, I’d prefer them at least a few years older than canon before anything romantic starts. I’d love to see them having adventures together, travelling the world and balancing helping people with having fun. Both of them have a lot of trauma to get through, too – Toph’s issues with her family, and of course the loss of Aang’s people – and I can see them balancing each other well and being good partners for each other.
I also like the idea of them potentially getting together when they’re much older? Maybe as friends in their thirties or forties who gradually realise their friendship is taking a different form? I am always fascinated by the idea of Toph and Aang as adults – and I really don’t like much of the Legend of Korra canon for either of them – so I’d love to see an alternate take on what they’d be like as older adults.
Alternatively (of course) I am always down for a canon divergence! Maybe a role reversal AU where Toph is the Avatar whose been hidden in a secret cave for a hundred years, and Aang is one of her teachers? Or maybe an AU where Bumi (or someone else) taught Aang earthbending after all, and Aang and Toph didn’t meet until they were much older? Go wild!

Black Widow really reminded me how much I love Natasha, how much I hate her canon ending, and how much more of her story I want to see. I really love her friendship-partnership with Steve – battle couple/comrades in arms is one of my all-time favourite het ship tropes – and I would love a fic that showed them turning that friendship into a romance, whether that was a missing scene in canon or a postseries fix-it that had Steve working to bring Natasha back.
There’s a lot of missing moments in canon that I think would offer space for a romance. On the run post Civil War, after Natasha reconnected with her family and outside the quasi-military structure of working for SHIELD/the Avengers would be interesting – I can definitely see how this might change their relationship. I’d also love to see more from the missing years post-snap – they both survived the apocalypse and helped keep each other going through it, and I can really see them turning to each other for comfort then, too.
Alternatively, as I mentioned above I don’t like the Endgame endings for either of them – I’d love to see something where Steve never actually meant to go back to the past and went looking for Natasha instead. Maybe he went alone, or maybe he teamed up with the Guardians trying to get Gamora back – and/or Thor trying to get Loki and the other lost Asgardians back – or maybe he went to Natasha’s family for help instead? I’d love it so much if that postcredits scene from Black Widow had Steve waiting at Natasha’s grave instead, looking for Yelena’s help to bring back Natasha from the dead! And I’m down with any kind of fantasy/sci-fi weirdness; whether that’s metaphysical Soul Stone stuff, or maybe Natasha (and Gamora?) have been claimed by some other entity – does Hela rule a realm of the dead now, as per Norse myth?
I would also be interested in a canon divergence AU here, as always! Natasha didn’t die, the snap went differently – anything up to a full role reversal where Natasha is the WWII era Soviet hero who spent decades on ice, and Steve is the modern wisecracker who was raised, trained and given powers under dubious circumstances (maybe some exploitative Reagan-era secret program to create the ultimate American patriot) until he eventually broke free to live as his own man?

I love these two so much – as individuals, they're two of my absolute favourites in book or show, but I also love their reverse-Romeo and Juliet tragedy; they genuinely liked each other so much, but both of them put their duty to family above their own personal desires and never managed to really connect the way they wanted to. I love how they both just seem to get each other, how they kept having these moments of connection and understanding despite being on opposite sides of the war… but it never quite happened.
In a happier, kinder world I think they could have been really good together; they’re both kind of prickly assholes lol, but underneath that they’re genuinely kind people trying to do their best in an awful world. They both have similar responsibilities, too, and they understand what it’s like to make morally dubious decisions to protect people they love and are responsible for; Wen Qing was never formally a sect leader like Jiang Cheng is, but she still acted like a sect leader for the Dafan Wen, and had to make a lot of compromises to protect her people.
I am always, always up for canon divergence AUs – anything from a little tweak to a massive no-war divergence would be wonderful, so long as Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng both survive. I’d love to see something where Wen Qing and the Dafan Wen defect to the Jiang, or something where Jiang Cheng managed to protect them after the war – maybe he could have claimed the Wen prisoners as war as compensation for the massacre of the Jiang? Or just a Wen Qing lives AU – if they kept Wen Ning alive, maybe they kept Wen Qing alive too to try and use her medical skills, and she managed to escape and went to Jiang Cheng?
Or maybe something set postcanon, where Wen Qing either came back from the dead in a deux ex machina like Wei Wuxian, or it turned out she was never dead at all – maybe she was in a Jin prison? It would be fascinating to get to see Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng interact as adults! I also love ensemble fics, so if you want to bring in Wei Wuxian for a reconciliation fic, or Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli for a Yunmeng siblings fix-it, or the juniors, or Wen Ning, or Wei Wuxian's beautiful grumpy husband, I would be delighted! Outsider POV is always fun, too.
But really any story about the two of them would make me happy!

I am generally pretty flexible with the things I like. Character-driven stories are awesome, plot-driven stories are awesome, explicit porn is awesome, angst and bleakness are awesome, happy endings are awesome, humour is awesome! Etc.
A few of my favourite things include:

-Time travel shenanigans, particularly characters going back in time to change their own past (I always love a good Peggy Sue)

Porn likes include rough/frantic sex, emphasising nonhuman strengths/capabilities/anatomy for nonhuman or superpowered characters, dirty talk, mild D/s, and bondage/restraints.
I am generally okay with violence, noncon, character death, etc - provided that it is warned for up front - though I would prefer that stories do not focus solely on trauma/horror/violence, and if these do come up as part of the story, I am more interested in the lead up and the aftermath than in dragging out the details of the act itself.
If you need to work your way around a canon relationship of any configuration to write a pairing I've requested (or just like writing it), I do generally enjoy poly and open relationships! "They were together and then they broke up" and "don't even mention it" are also fine. Infidelity is also fine in most circumstances, I'm cool with reading about requested characters doing morally dubious things - as long as the cheated-on party doesn't get written wildly out of character to "justify" it. This is particularly the case in ASOIAF, where almost all the marriages we see involve at least some level of power imbalance and/or coercion - I'm really happy for the primary romantic pairing(s) of a fic to occur on the side of a formal marriage, with the consent of the other spouse or not.
General DNWs:
-Modern/mundane and genre-shift AUs - basically anything that takes the requested characters/pairings out of their canon setting. Fusions (eg a daemon AU or Fallen London AU) that keep the canon setting more-or-less the same are fine though.
-Soulmates, soulmarks, hanahaki disease, etc
-Lengthy descriptions of violence/horror/noncon/major character death
-Non-canon character death of requested characters (and if a requested character's canon character death is averted, please don't then kill them off in a different way!)

I love her passion and determination so much, I love how much she’s been able to use her role as Queen to change her adopted country for the better – my only issue in the books is that I’ve always wanted more of her story! I’d love to see more of her perspective on Alanna or Daine or Kel, for example, or what she was up to during the Immortals or Scanran Wars, or how she founded the Riders, or just moments of Thayet being political and savvy to change Tortall – or physically fighting to change Tortall, lol.
I’d also really love to know more about her childhood and teenage years in Sarain, and particularly her relationship with her parents (and Buri!) and the two cultures she’s part of. I can understand why she chose to stay in Tortall permanently in Lioness Rampant, immediately after her mother’s suicide and the civil war, but I would also like to see how she connects (or not) with her culture later in life - does she ever come to regret that decision? How is the civil war resolved (if it ever is) and how does Thayet feel about that? I’d also be really interested in a story where she returns to Sarain postcanon (maybe after Jonathan’s death? Would she bring the Dominion Jewel with her?) Or maybe one of her younger children decides to go to Sarain – how would she feel about that?
I also think there could be some fascinating canon divergence AUs for Thayet! I am 100% here for Genghis Thayet AUs, where she takes the Dominion Jewel to unite Sarain – or maybe just to lead the K’mir to independence – and fuck what the Sarainese patriarchy says about women ruling. I know Tamora Pierce had to let Alanna bring Thayet and the jewel to Tortall for plot reasons, but in terms of Thayet’s own story it never seemed to ring quite true that she’d leave the K’mir behind so easily, so I’d really appreciate a story where she… didn’t.
Also, if you wanted to go full role reversal - Thayet the young ruler attempting to unite her troubled country with the Dominion Jewel, Buri her champion who brought her the jewel from Chitral, and Jon the beautiful prince fleeing political turmoil in his own country (accompanied by his faithful sidekick Alanna of course) who ends up marrying Thayet – I would be extremely into that.
Pairing-wise, I quite like Thayet/Jonathan – obviously their marriage has its ups and downs in canon, but overall they work well together, and I would definitely enjoy a story looking at their relationship (the canon version or otherwise) in more depth. I also really love femslash pairings for Thayet; Thayet/Buri or Thayet/Alanna would make me very, very happy. (Buri/Alanna or Delia/Alanna in the background of a Thayet/Jonathon story would also make me happy!) I love canon divergence AUs where Thayet didn’t want to be Tortall’s queen and had a life of adventure with Buri or Alanna instead; I’m also always interested in complicated poly arrangements, where perhaps Thayet/Jonathan and Alanna/George are the public marriages (marriages of convenience or genuine relationships), and Thayet/Alanna and Jonathan/George are happening in secret. Or ditto, but with Buri/Raoul as the other public marriage instead of Alanna/George. A sedoretu AU involving any set of characters could be fun too!
Arram Draper/Ozorne Tasikhe/Varice Kingsford
I enjoyed Tempests and Slaughter much more than I was expecting to – baby Arram is just so cute, and I actually liked the slice-of-life magical university studies; it’s a similar vibe to some of my favourite parts of the Protector of the Small, and I don’t care that there’s minimal actual plot. The only thing I really want more of is Arram’s friendship with Ozorne and Varice! I liked what we got, but honestly I wanted it even more codependent and claustrophobic, lol. Maybe that comes later? (Along with Arram’s powers growing to the extent that he no longer has the fine control necessary to heal – the only way I can see out of the current inconsistency with the earlier books.)
Given how their relationship ended up, I really can’t see Arram and Ozorne not having had some kind of sexual-romantic relationship in their teens. I liked that Varice was the pursuer in her relationship with Arram, but it will leave Ozorne out as the third wheel, and I can’t see him enjoying that. Did he know what Varice was planning before she did it? Did Varice seek his blessing first? Is he also going to start pursuing Arram? Or is he just going to sulk and/or pine until Arram and/or Varice figure it out and get him involved too?
Basically I am looking for anything set during or after Tempests and Slaughter that makes their friendship more sexual-romantic-generally codependent, lol. Either a poly-v with Arram dating both Varice and Ozorne (with Varice and Ozorne having an extremely intimate but non-sexual friendship) or a straight-up threesome would make me very happy. And I am happy with any level of ominous foreboding, and if you want to work in scenes from the Immortals War era too, that’s also excellent! Given how their relationship ends, I’m completely fine with a fucked-up, angsty story – though something sweet and light as per the Tempests and Slaughter era would be nice too.
I’m also always up for a canon divergence AU – making it better or making it worse – but in particular, I would be absolutely fascinated by a universe where Ozorne didn’t end up completely evil. Maybe if the emperor figured out the plot to kill his heirs (which presumably Ozorne’s mother and Master Chioke, at least, are involved in) and Ozorne ended up on the run with Arram and Varice, he might have a chance to learn to be a better person as he grows older, instead of a worse one? (I can only imagine the chaos if they ended up in Tortall – as Arram does in canon – particularly if they were still in their mid-to-late teens and Roger would potentially be around!)

Even though Rhaenys died as a toddler, I’m kind of obsessed by her, and by imagining what she might have been like if she’d lived. Any fic where she’s alive in the present day of the books is immediately fascinating to me – it probably means an AU, but not necessarily! I’d be interested in any story like this; less so a story solely featuring toddler Rhaenys. But it doesn’t have to be a canon-divergence AU if you don’t want to write that; “surprise, Rhaenys was alive all along!” is fine too. And I don’t mind if you keep Elia and Aegon alive too, or keep Rhaenys as the sole survivor.
If the whole world knew she was alive, it means a massive canon divergence with huge implications for Robert’s rule – is he even on the throne at all? If he is, has she been betrothed to Joffrey since he was born for the sake of long-term stability (as per Henry VII’s marriage to Elizabeth of York, perhaps) or has she been declared a bastard? Betrothed to Robb?* Maybe Rhaegar and Robert both died, and she or Aegon have been rulers since infancy under a regency? Or is she in hiding in Essos with Dany and Viserys?
*I like this plot device, and I like Rhaenys/Robb, but it doesn’t really make a lot of political sense lol. But I could still be convinced!
I would also be fascinated by a fic where all seemed the same as canon, but someone had secretly saved Rhaenys as a baby – Jaime or Ned are both possibilities, but not the only ones! Maybe Amory Lorch grabbed the wrong kid – a wetnurse’s child, maybe – and someone else realised and saved the real Rhaenys later, and she’s been living in hiding (in Dorne, in Essos, or somewhere completely unexpected) ever since? What would it mean for everyone if her secret got out?
Pairing-wise, I’m pretty agnostic, though I have a soft spot for the idea of Rhaenys/Sansa – Sansa loves romance and royalty, after all! And maybe the two of them would meet in an AU where Rhaenys is (or was?) betrothed to Joffrey. I also really like Rhaenys/Robb, particularly if it means Robb gets to survive the Red Wedding. I’m less into Targaryen incest, though I like the idea of Rhaenys getting to meet her surviving relatives, too. But I’m willing to go with any Rhaenys pairing, really, to suit the needs of the story – and gen is great too! Basically any Rhaenys story would make me very happy.
Elia Martell/Cersei Lannister
I feel like all of my ASOIAF pairing requests are just throwing characters together in increasingly cracky combinations… but bear with me here! Individually, Cersei and Elia are two of my favourites; yes Cersei is a fuckup but I find her fury, ambition and gender issues endlessly fascinating, and I love stories that dig into her complexity and give her a chance to be happy(ier) than she will be in canon. Meanwhile Elia is generally just reduced to being kind and frail and tragic, except in Oberyn's memories, and I am always looking for stories that flesh out her character and give her a chance to be more complex and active in her own life.
And I feel like putting Elia and Cersei together would be a great way to achieve this for both of them! In canon they’re linked in a lot of ways – the friendship between their mothers, the rivalry for Rhaegar’s hand and the eventual Martell-Lannister feud, not to mention their respective bad* marriages – but they never really get to interact as adults together on their own merits. I’d love to see some missing scenes between them in canon – maybe unexpected connections at Harrenhal – or a canon divergence AU where Elia lived, or even a no-rebellion AU where Elia was Rhaegar’s Queen and Cersei was her handmaiden - maybe waiting for Viserys to grow up so she could marry him?
*Yes, we don’t actually know much about Elia and Rhaegar’s relationship, but the one part of Elia and Rhaegar’s relationship we see is him publicly humiliating her at Harrenhal, so I think it’s safe to say that they had rocky patches at the very least.
In a lot of scenarios I can see Cersei seeing Elia as her rival and hating her – and Elia pitying Cersei for her own self-destructiveness – and I am always here for hatesex, lol. But I can also see them ending up as unexpected allies!
Cersei Lannister/Ned Stark/Jaime Lannister
Another slightly cracky ship I have grown to adore! I just love the combination of Ned’s stubborn, somewhat naïve sense of honour and the Lannister twins’ self-indulgent nihilism. I also love Ned and Jaime’s extremely bisexual moments of lustfully/wistfully remembering Attractive Men They Have Known, and Jaime’s grumpy horniness whenever he thinks Ned is judging him, but also Ned and Cersei’s general vibe, where he tries to be kind and empathetic and she has absolutely no kindness left. And I love fic that brings the three of them closer together – whether that’s Ned forced by circumstances to get his hands a little dirty or Jaime and Cersei doing something for the common good despite their better instincts, “enemies forced to work together” and “reluctantly finding common ground with the people you hate” are two of my all-time favourite tropes.
I feel like it would be tricky, but not impossible, to work this ship into canon somewhere – I’m extremely fine with something dubconny here, because I guess Ned doesn’t have much time for a complete change of heart before his death, lol. Or maybe magical shenanigans resurrect him somehow and he ends up reluctantly fighting against the dead with Cersei and Jaime?
Alternatively, as already mentioned many times, I LOVE canon divergence AUs and I feel like ASOIAF has endless opportunities for great ones! "What if Ned married Cersei instead of Catelyn" would be fascinating, whether as part of a King Ned AU where Robert died at the Trident and Ned took the throne to stop Tywin from taking it, or as a riff off canon where the Rebellion era marriages happened differently – maybe Brandon lived in this AU? Or Ned married Cersei prior to the Rebellion breaking out (which would mean the Rebellion might have gone very differently if Ned was able to pull Tywin in from the start)? Regardless of how it happened, I can’t see any universe in which Cersei was married to Ned (or anyone) but didn’t get Jaime involved somehow too.
Or what about a canon-era divergence where Ned kept his head? Maybe Cersei kept him as a prisoner/trophy and he ended up her (and Jaime’s) increasingly exasperated advisor? Maybe they all ended up at the Wall somehow? Really, go wild!
Ned Stark/Oberyn Martell
So initially I started requesting this pairing because I wanted poor probably-bisexual Ned to have a chance to fuck a dude, and Oberyn is – well – an easy choice. But actually it makes more sense than it seems! Despite appearances they have a lot that could potentially bring them together – they’re both haunted by the tragedies of the Rebellion and particularly by the loss of a beloved sister, they’re both driven by a need for justice/desire to avoid repeating the tragedies of the past, and they’re linked by blood through Rhaegar’s children. Also, yes, opposites attract – Ned is upright and stoic, Oberyn is flirtatious and hotheaded; it’s a classic combo for a reason.
It would be a bit hard to make this pairing work in canon, but not impossible! Maybe Ned’s tragic Harrenhal romance was with a Dornishman, not Ashara? Maybe Oberyn visited the Vale at one point while travelling?
There are also some great canon divergence AUs that could bring them together. Maybe Oberyn went to King’s Landing earlier than in canon, before Ned went there as Hand – he would be an absolute agent of chaos and Ned’s plotline might go very differently! Or maybe Oberyn figured out about Jon from rumours he heard at Starfall, and came to Winterfell precanon to investigate?
If you wanted to go Rebellion-era, if Ned saved Elia (and her children?), I can see Oberyn wanting to repay him in some dramatic, over-the-top way - maybe he'd follow Ned around until he had the chance to repay his debt by saving Ned's life, or something similar - regardless of whether Ned actually wanted the company of a flamboyant, dramatic Dornishman! Oberyn following Ned back to Winterfell looking for a chance to be useful would be pretty fun, actually - particularly if Ned was gritting his teeth trying to ignore his attraction, and they eventually fell in bed together. Alternatively, if Lyanna had lived, I can see Ned throwing everything away to protect her – so what about Ned, Lyanna, Elia, Oberyn, and the three Targ kids running away to Essos together on the world's wackiest roadtrip? Uncles all round!

This is one of my all-time favourite ATLA pairings. I love the epic contrasts between them - fire versus ice, manipulation and control versus hope and passion, healer versus killer - but I also love how they sometimes parallel - very powerful and dedicated in their bending, almost prodigies, both of them the little sisters in their families coming to terms with patriarchy and gender roles (albeit in different ways).
For this pairing I'd be particularly interested in something set mainly postcanon, or in a canon divergence AU. I do find it very disappointing that we never saw Azula get a chance for a redemption/healing arc - despite everything she did, she was only a child, and the final season did show how Ozai's abuse affected her as well as Zuko. Anything centred around this would be delightful! I love that Katara is a powerful bender who managed to defeat Azula in battle, but she’s a healer too – I really love the idea of her, postcanon, helping Azula to heal and grow.
But I'd also like straight-up hatesex, or enemies forced to work together (and finding common ground). That would also make for a great postcanon story – maybe for whatever reason Azula and Katara have to work together to defeat a threat to the whole Fire Nation, and end up growing closer and respecting each other?
Or if you wanted to go full AU, there's so many interesting possibilities - what if Azula was the one to be scarred and banished, and end up on a voyage of self-discovery, instead of Zuko? Or what if Katara was kidnapped by the Fire Nation as a child and ended up working for Azula as one of her dangerous ladies? Or arranged marriage AU - Azula in the Southern Icefield would be just as interesting as Katara in the Fire Nation! I’ve also seen several stories where Zuko ends up accidentally adopted by the Southern Water Tribe; I would adore a story where the same thing happened to Azula.
Katara/Mai
I love Katara and Mai, and I really wish they'd had the chance to interact more in canon - I think they have more in common than it seems, and I could see them becoming friends given half a chance. On the surface level, they both have limited patience with unpleasant (stupid, mean) people and share a common interest in looking nice and staying clean; they are extremely skilled and willing to use violence, but only when necessary. Katara is an eternal optimist and Mai is the show's biggest cynic, but oddly I think they both come from a similar idealistic place; Katara's life has taught her that you can fix things if you try hard enough, whereas Mai has been stuck in an amoral society with no real escape, and has chosen to reject everything rather than go along with an ideology she doesn't really believe in (even helping Azula is something she does to reduce her own boredom, I think, I never get the sense that she really believes in Fire Nation propaganda). I think they could balance each other out very well, and it would be a lot of fun to see.
I'd love to see a reluctant allies story where they have to work together for some plot reason, or a gradually developing friendship/romance as they discover common ground – maybe some new enemy arises postcanon and the two of them end up working together to solve a mystery or defeat it?
I would also really love to see a canon divergence AU where the two of them got a chance to spend more time together! Maybe Mai joined the Gaang earlier, alongside or instead of Zuko? Or maybe Katara was stuck in a post-Agni Kai Fire Nation for longer than canon, and ended up working with Mai to help Zuko secure his position on the throne? Or as above, maybe Katara was kidnapped by the Fire Nation as a child and ended up as one of Azula’s dangerous ladies – I would be fascinated by how a fourth girl would change the dynamics of their friendship, and their relationships with Zuko!
Note: I also ship Katara/Zuko and Mai/Zuko, and would be very interested in any kind of poly relationship between the three of them – so long as Katara/Mai remains a focus - but just Katara/Mai on its own would be delightful too.
Aang/Toph
I’ve usually only seen this pairing on the sidelines of Katara/Zuko but I find it really charming in its own right, and I’d love a story focused on the two of them together! Aang and Toph have a nice opposites-attract energy – the stubborn, grounded Earthbender and the flighty, detached Airbender – but they also have a lot in common! They’re both playful and really good at finding the joy in life; they have a strong sense of humour and don’t tend to care about conforming to the status quo. They’re a good team, too, and I think they often bring out the best in each other.
I’d really love to see something set postcanon for these two – particularly as I’m requesting shippy fic, I’d prefer them at least a few years older than canon before anything romantic starts. I’d love to see them having adventures together, travelling the world and balancing helping people with having fun. Both of them have a lot of trauma to get through, too – Toph’s issues with her family, and of course the loss of Aang’s people – and I can see them balancing each other well and being good partners for each other.
I also like the idea of them potentially getting together when they’re much older? Maybe as friends in their thirties or forties who gradually realise their friendship is taking a different form? I am always fascinated by the idea of Toph and Aang as adults – and I really don’t like much of the Legend of Korra canon for either of them – so I’d love to see an alternate take on what they’d be like as older adults.
Alternatively (of course) I am always down for a canon divergence! Maybe a role reversal AU where Toph is the Avatar whose been hidden in a secret cave for a hundred years, and Aang is one of her teachers? Or maybe an AU where Bumi (or someone else) taught Aang earthbending after all, and Aang and Toph didn’t meet until they were much older? Go wild!

Black Widow really reminded me how much I love Natasha, how much I hate her canon ending, and how much more of her story I want to see. I really love her friendship-partnership with Steve – battle couple/comrades in arms is one of my all-time favourite het ship tropes – and I would love a fic that showed them turning that friendship into a romance, whether that was a missing scene in canon or a postseries fix-it that had Steve working to bring Natasha back.
There’s a lot of missing moments in canon that I think would offer space for a romance. On the run post Civil War, after Natasha reconnected with her family and outside the quasi-military structure of working for SHIELD/the Avengers would be interesting – I can definitely see how this might change their relationship. I’d also love to see more from the missing years post-snap – they both survived the apocalypse and helped keep each other going through it, and I can really see them turning to each other for comfort then, too.
Alternatively, as I mentioned above I don’t like the Endgame endings for either of them – I’d love to see something where Steve never actually meant to go back to the past and went looking for Natasha instead. Maybe he went alone, or maybe he teamed up with the Guardians trying to get Gamora back – and/or Thor trying to get Loki and the other lost Asgardians back – or maybe he went to Natasha’s family for help instead? I’d love it so much if that postcredits scene from Black Widow had Steve waiting at Natasha’s grave instead, looking for Yelena’s help to bring back Natasha from the dead! And I’m down with any kind of fantasy/sci-fi weirdness; whether that’s metaphysical Soul Stone stuff, or maybe Natasha (and Gamora?) have been claimed by some other entity – does Hela rule a realm of the dead now, as per Norse myth?
I would also be interested in a canon divergence AU here, as always! Natasha didn’t die, the snap went differently – anything up to a full role reversal where Natasha is the WWII era Soviet hero who spent decades on ice, and Steve is the modern wisecracker who was raised, trained and given powers under dubious circumstances (maybe some exploitative Reagan-era secret program to create the ultimate American patriot) until he eventually broke free to live as his own man?

I love these two so much – as individuals, they're two of my absolute favourites in book or show, but I also love their reverse-Romeo and Juliet tragedy; they genuinely liked each other so much, but both of them put their duty to family above their own personal desires and never managed to really connect the way they wanted to. I love how they both just seem to get each other, how they kept having these moments of connection and understanding despite being on opposite sides of the war… but it never quite happened.
In a happier, kinder world I think they could have been really good together; they’re both kind of prickly assholes lol, but underneath that they’re genuinely kind people trying to do their best in an awful world. They both have similar responsibilities, too, and they understand what it’s like to make morally dubious decisions to protect people they love and are responsible for; Wen Qing was never formally a sect leader like Jiang Cheng is, but she still acted like a sect leader for the Dafan Wen, and had to make a lot of compromises to protect her people.
I am always, always up for canon divergence AUs – anything from a little tweak to a massive no-war divergence would be wonderful, so long as Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng both survive. I’d love to see something where Wen Qing and the Dafan Wen defect to the Jiang, or something where Jiang Cheng managed to protect them after the war – maybe he could have claimed the Wen prisoners as war as compensation for the massacre of the Jiang? Or just a Wen Qing lives AU – if they kept Wen Ning alive, maybe they kept Wen Qing alive too to try and use her medical skills, and she managed to escape and went to Jiang Cheng?
Or maybe something set postcanon, where Wen Qing either came back from the dead in a deux ex machina like Wei Wuxian, or it turned out she was never dead at all – maybe she was in a Jin prison? It would be fascinating to get to see Wen Qing and Jiang Cheng interact as adults! I also love ensemble fics, so if you want to bring in Wei Wuxian for a reconciliation fic, or Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli for a Yunmeng siblings fix-it, or the juniors, or Wen Ning, or Wei Wuxian's beautiful grumpy husband, I would be delighted! Outsider POV is always fun, too.
But really any story about the two of them would make me happy!
